During a particularly difficult time, my minister, Philip Turner, suggested I might find solace in Psalm 43. Some time later I decided to turn it into a song.

1. Why is it raining here when all around is sun?
Why do I long for sleep? The day has just begun.
Why are you so far away? I need you here with me.
Why won’t you just lift me up to where I need to be?

Let’s grab a time machine and move from winter into spring
Let’s flip the channel, change the tune to one that’s good to sing.

Shine your light on me, so I can see a way.
Shine your light on me, turn the night to day.
Shine your light on me, chase the blues away.

2. When will the picture change to colour from just grey?
When will the fog disperse so I can find my way?
When will you plead my case with the judge inside my head?
When will I put behind me what I’ve done and said?

Let’s grab…

Shine your light…

I’ll hold on. I’ll stay true
‘Til the path leads on to a different view.

Shine your light…

Chase the blues away. (Rpt ad lib)
